My collaged paintings are at once landscapes and interiors reflecting imagined, uncanny spaces. I explore memory and identity by combining abstraction with geometric shapes layered with bold color and pattern. The patterns are self-portraits, pointing to era and in the painted surface, offer a collision of between space, referencing something recognizable yet strangely unfamiliar. I use acrylic, oil, charcoal, oil pastels, found textiles and objects on collaged, un-stretched canvas to conjure depth. By merging abstract forms, figuration and aspects of nature, I create a place of transition that suggests in-between states, questioning belonging.
