The composition pays homage to Egon Schiele. The figure is an amalgamation of photo-transferred fashion magazine images. The garment includes: hand-made papers using acrylic paint, spray paint, woodblock prints, lace, and stencils, found advertisement flyers from Denver and Boulder, found doilies, found vintage trading stamps and photo-transfers of flowers and textile patterns found in fashion magazines and books. The bird image is from a picture that I took of a bird-in-flight coming to my bird feeder.

This mixed-media painting is based on a photograph that I took of my 80 year-old dad holding a bouquet of flowers. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia a few years ago. He is and always has been a kind and generous man and I wanted to preserve my memory of him in this way. I thought of no better way to portray this sentiment than to show a man holding flowers.

This piece is based on an image that I took of my dad holding a flower. The jacket is made up of fragmented language taken from torn street advertisements. My dad passed in March of Alzheimer's disease. The single rose that he holds is for my mom, his wife of 58 years. It's the state flower of New York, where my mom is from and where they met and married. The cardinal is the state bird of Virginia, where my dad was born, and the state bird of Ohio, where he and my mom raised our family and where he died.

He is and always has been a kind and generous man and I wanted to preserve my memory of him in this way. I thought of no better way to portray this sentiment than to show a man holding flowers. I chose found penny wrappers for the bouquet wrapping because my dad likes to look for pennies on the ground when he goes on walks with me or my sister.
