40 x 40 inches ~ acrylic on canvas ~ 2014

SOLD

I take pictures of women on the shore's edge on beaches across the country. I took this picture of two women at Orange Beach on the Gulf Shores of Alabama in 2009.  When I'm finished with a painting, I ask my friends and family on social media to give these women names. I choose the names that best suit their gestures. I affectionately call these women my "fat-bottom girls." I love their fleshy bodies and the way they own their physicality.

48 x 48 inches ~ mixed-media on canvas ~ 2013

Private Collection

I created this mixed-media painting based on a fashion magazine image of model, Yaya Alafia. I used torn street poster ads from Denver, Colorado, the Mile High City, for her mile-high hair.

18 x 24 inches ~ oil on canvas board ~ 2012

Private Collection

I painted this small oil painting in plein-air as part of the Denver Plein-Air Arts Festival. I set up my easel behind the Denver Art Museum in the Golden Triangle District in August 2012 and painted these two dumpsters sitting out back in the alley. I entered my painting to be juried into their annual show.  Not only was my painting admitted, but also it received the First Place Award for Emerging Artists at the show.

I referenced a fashion model image from a Vogue magazine and used dry-cleaning tags to make up her gown and Japanese newspaper ads for the background.

36 x 24 inches ~ oil on canvas ~ 2010

Private Collection

This painting is based on an image that I found in a National Graphic magazine or an Italian man holding flowers.  I imagined it to be my grandfather, Ernest and loved the gesture of a little old man hidden behind a massive bouquet of roses, my favorite flower.
